Common Core and Swing Set Equity?

October 6, 2015

On October 06, 2015, I had the following comment (stay tuned) added to the comment section of my post, Those 24 Common Core 2009 Work Group Members.

The purpose of the comment is to thank the Common Core creators for their hand in righting the wrongs in American public education, including some unclear connection between Common Core and swing set availability.

With Common Core, the commenter considers that “the secrets of the whites are out”; she apparently expects Common Core to produce educational equity even though Common Core was created to accompany high-stakes testing, and Common Core testing is actually widening the achievement gap between white children and children of color (see here and here, for example).

Finally, the individual writing the comment identifies herself as a tutor, a head-tilting moment for me as I read her comment, which I offer below in full, exactly as she chose to write it:

TOO ALL THE CONTRIBUTORS TOO COMMON CORE I AM MISS PAYTON SENDING YOU AN LOUD THANK YOU FOR SEEING THE WRONG IN THE EDUCATION SYSTEM WERE THE WHITE KIDS PARENTS BUY SWINGSETS AND THERE KIDS RECEIVE GRADES THAT ARE NOT WHO THEY ARE THE WRONG HAS BEEN EXPOSED AND NOW THE RIGHT THE EXCELLENT WAYS OF TEACHING IS HERE I AM GLAD I PERSONALLY LOVE EDUCATION ALONG WITH THE KIDS IN MY FAMILY WE HAVE DID GREAT OK N SCHOOL GREAT STUDY HABITS SCHOOL IS GREAT FOR US I TUTOR LOVE TUTORING STUDENTS WILL ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE EXCELLENT GRADES BACK TOO COMMON CORE SURPRISE AT WHO IS MAKING A MASSIVE NOISE ABOUT AN EXCELLENT LEARNING SYSTEM LETTING ME KNOW THAT I AM ON THE RIGHT PATH SECRETS OF THE WHITES ARE OUT SORRY ABOUT MY LOUD WORDING OF THE SITUATION BUT THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU FOR PUTTING TOGETHER AN EXCELLENT EDUCATIONAL WORK LEARNING SYSTEM LOVE IT APPRECIATE IT…….

There you have it, Common Core:

Proud support that believes you are The Answer, defying even testing-outcome facts as well as the conventions of written English.

  1. On the comment: Ummmm.. Wow. Just. Wow.

On your assessment of CC widening the gap: SPOT ON.
We have just entered year four of CC. Looking at our scores here in NC, it’s clear the gap is not closing, but widening.

Well, it appears that the schools aren’t teaching punctuation or proper grammar along with Common Core. And she is proud of it! Wow!

  3. I think, I hope and pray, you are merely the victim of a robospam generator that picked out keywords from your post and assembled them in colorless green ideas sleep furiously fashion.

That must be a satire.  Please research author and verify because it sounds fake.  | |

If she is in fact a “tutor” then I feel bad for the kids he or she tutors considering he or she doesn’t know how to spell and use grammar and punctuation correctly. Perhaps he/she is being paid to write such garbage because no other explanation is logical to me. The “author” of that should contact the Common Core Diva who lives in NC as well for more information (real information) on exactly how Common Core has widened the achievement gap and continues to do so.

  7. Ah excuse me? She is a teacher?? Based on the spelling, sentence structure and punctuation I can understand why she believes Common Core is the answer to her prayers.

  8. Ah excuse me?? This is a response from a tutor?? Based on the spelling, sentence structure and punctuation I can see why she thinks Common Core is the answer to her prayers.

What do you guys call this kind of writing? A Python Letter? That posting looks like a +7-foot giant snake caught in the Louisiana swamp.

  11. I am glad this person tutors students for those exams. We need more kids to fail to grow various opt out movements.
